To start with, ridge treks are enormously uncommon in our country. There is barely a handful. The Phulara Ridge is one of the lesser travelled Himalayan gems hidden within, the broader landscape of the Sankri. It is a neighbour to the well-known Kedarkantha trek and a perfect place for all trekkers looking for something extraordinary. Usually, a ridge comes as a part of many high-elevation Garhwal Himalayan treks, but here Imagine a heavenly road on the peak point with a view of enormous glaciers and summits on both sides; there is no other ridge like the Phulara Ridge.
Now, a ridge is where two sides of the peak meet. So the trek on a ridge is almost like one on a knife edge. There are ridge sections on a few Garhwal Himalayan treks. However, to have an entire day’s hike on a ridge is unparalleled.
If you have climbed a Peak, you would know that you stand at the highest point for 25-30 minutes. This is from where you get excellent views of the mountains around. On this hike, though, you’re at a high point of 12,050 ft for a day’s worth of trek(5 hours!).
