Foolon ki Ghati ” Valley of Flowers ” is one of those stunning trekking journeys that can be enjoyed during the monsoon season. It is impeccably nestled in the West Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and lies 3600 m above mean sea level. The Foolon ki ghati trek is one of the best-known treks in the world.

The beautiful Valley itself is the biggest reason for me to love and remember the trek. When you stand at the Valley’s entry, you see a colourful carpet ahead of you.  The Valley of a flower is at least a couple of kilometres wide and more than 10 kilometres long.

A slender path in between the flowers signs you to go shallower. You now start seeing a diversity of flowers, not only in colours but in sizes, shapes, smells and textures. A few tens of steps take you to a new array of flowers.

I stood by the flowers, sat beside them, and lay down on the small exposed trail, trying to immerse myself and feel a part of the multitude of flowers in the Valley. The cool mountain breeze coming from the glacial end of the Valley brought with it scents that I had never known before.
